Bio:
Peter Staffeld, PhD, PE, is the principal consultant for Staffeld Engineering Services. With 20 years in both large and small companies, Peter has extensive experience in the areas of manufacturing, troubleshooting, modeling & optimization, project economics, and technology licensing. He is also an experienced teacher, and has taught a wide variety of topics to all ages and cultures, both one-on-one and in large groups.
Peter is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Villanova University, Department of Chemical Engineering, where he teaches reactor design, plant equipment design, and unit operations laboratory to upperclassmen. He is also an Adjunct Professor at DeSales University where he teaches an upper level "ecological crisis" capstone course in the chemistry department and an advanced Microsoft Excel/Access course for adult learners. He was Vice President of Manufacturing for a global polyurethanes manufacturer, responsible for both their high-speed, robotic manufacturing line, and the labor-intensive post-production processes. Peter worked for a major oil company for over 13 years in a variety of positions including: research and development; process modeling and optimization; project economic analysis; and technology sales and licensing. He was responsible for lube technology sales on four continents.
Peter graduated first in his class from Michigan State University with a BS in chemical engineering, and earned masters and doctorate degrees in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Peter is also a Microsoft Certified Applications Specialist in Excel 2007, and a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
Peter is currently Vice President of the Pennsylvania Society of Professional Engineers, Lehigh Valley chapter, and is a member of the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace. He also serves the community as a member of his township's Environmental Advisory Council.
