Professor Emeritus Krull has demonstrated expertise in areas of analytical biochemistry, analytical biotechnology, and biopharmaceutical regulatory science for the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. He offers consulting services in these and related areas, emphasizing analytical aspects for biotechnology products and services. Such consulting has been pursued for over three decades with numerous biotech and pharmaceutical firms, around the world, with demonstrated efficient assistance and guidance. A summary of such consulting can be found on his CV. Available as a PDF file to download here Dr. Ira Krull - CV

At the same time, Professor Krull has significant experience and expertise in constructing and presenting numerous training courses, for both public and private offerings, often in-house to pharma and biopharma firms, around the world. Such courses can be tailored to the individual needs of such firms, for any number of attendees, ranging from 1-3 days, or as desired and needed by the client. These courses have included topics such as: Analytical Method Development, Optimization, and Validation for the Biotech and/or Pharmaceutical Industries, Biopharmaceutical Regulatory Science, Analytical Biotechnology/Biochemistry, Advances in Mass Spectrometry, HPLC and UHPLC of Biopolymers, and others. Typical syllabi for such courses will be provided on request, with flexibility of intended client's particular and specific needs.

Professor Krull has extensive experience in analytical research and development, especially in separations-detection areas, including GC, HPLC, UPLC, SFC, HPCE, SEC and others, often interfaced with MS. He has over 300 scientific publications, review articles, and has edited or coauthored several texts in areas of analytical separations and their applications. These papers have emphasized both small and large molecules, and over the past 20+ years, biopolymers, especially proteins, peptides and antibodies. He has also taught at the university level for over 30 years, still today, in areas of his research expertise, especially analytical chemistry type courses, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. His most recent courses (Fall, 2010) have been an Introduction to Forensic Science (undergrad) and Introduction to Biopharmaceutical Regulatory Science (graduate).

He has also given any number of short (training) courses, both public and private (in-house), in these same areas, especially involving HPLC/UPLC, analytical method validation, analytical biotechnology, and analytical separations. In the consulting areas, he has worked for approximately 50 private firms, in areas of low MW pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, analytical instrumentation, and CROs or CSOs.

Though formally retired from Northeastern University (June, 2008), he remains active in several, professional societies, such as Sigma Xi, American Chemical Society, Massachusetts Separations Society, Greater Boston MS Discussion Group, and the Connecticut Separation Science Council. In 2010, he attended Horvath Medal Memorial Symposium in Hartford, CT (April), HPLC 2010 meeting in Boston (June, 2010), ACS National Meeting in Boston (August, 2010), and numerous, local meetings of Massep and GBMSDG.
