Abstract: There is a growing demand for scientific expertise in business and law. As chemical and allied technologies increasingly become part of commercially successful products and services, the demand for scientific experts to help business and legal professionals is increasing. The presentation will provide market information on the consulting industry, followed by more specific background regarding the expert witness segment. An introduction to the ACS ChemInsight™ service will be presented. ChemInsight™ is a powerful marketing tool for scientific consultants, which enables them to gain access to problem-solving and income-generating opportunities beyond their core disciplines.
Biography: Tom Smith is the Business Manager with ChemInsight™. Before joining ACS, Tom had been in marketing and sales development management in the Chemical and Plastics Industry for 17 years, with ARCO Chemical, Phillips 66 Chemical Co., and AlliedSignal Engineering Plastics. In his last position with Congoleum Corporation, he started a new product venture in laminates and later was the Product Stewardship Manager. Smith graduated from Penn State University with an M.B.A and has a B.S. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University.
Location: The Cynwyd Club, 332 Trevor Lane, Bala Cynwyd, PA 19004. From City Line Ave. (Route # 1) drive north on Conshohocken State Road (Route # 23) about 3 long blocks. Continue north on Trevor Lane instead of following Route #23 left. At “Y” in road one block north on Trevor Lane turn left where clubhouse and parking are on the left side of the road.
