Topic: Marjorie L. Hill, "Online and Beyond: Future Developments in Electronic Retrieval of Information"
Abstract: Marjorie will provide a broad picture of the online information industry which includes such areas as the now ubiquitous Internet. She will give a brief history of the Information Industry and the ways in which it's history is impacting the emerging standards for the Internet, commercial online vendors and the National Information Highway. Breaking developments in this fast-paced industry will be covered such as the new information appliance for television to allow access directly to the Internet through cable TV.
Biography: Marjorie obtained her MA in Library and Information Science from the University of South Florida and is also degreed from Cornell University. She is now Director of the Ben Franklin Business Information Center of the Ben Franklin Technology Center of Southeastern Pennsylvania. The center provides small companies with access to information available through online computer databases including staff assistance in creating search strategies. Marjorie is and has been very active in a variety of professional organizations including the Special Libraries Association, Chair of the Information Resources Exchange Group of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (DVRPC) and serves on the Cornell National Council.
