James Chan will relate real life stories of independent professionals in his book, Spare Room Tycoon: the 70 lessons of Sane Self Employment. The focus of his presentation is on how we can find new clients, both domestic in the U.S. and in Asia, as independent service professionals."
James Chan is president of Asia Marketing and Management, a Philadelphia-based consultant specialized in helping companies expand and manage their business in Asia.
Dr. Chan founded his consulting practice in 1983. He has helped more than 100 manufacturers and sevice companies do business successfully in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan.
His clients include Eastman Kodak, Nationwide Insurance, Lucent Technologies, Rand McNally, ASTM, Kingsbury, American Management Association,
Glenyare, Monitor Aeospace, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund.
Born in Canton, China, James holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, a master's degree from the University of Chicago, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Hong Kong. He speaks fluent Mandarin
Chinese and the Cantonese dialect.
He is author of Spare Room Tycoon: Succeeding independently, The 70 lessons of sane self empoyment, a book published by Nicholas Brealey Publishing.
Location: The Cynwyd Club, Bala Cynwyd, PA. From City Line Ave (Route #1) drive north west on Conshohocken State Road (Route #23) about 3 long blocks. Continue north on Trevor Lane instead of following Route #23 left. At "Y" in road one block north on Trevor Lane, turn left where clubhouse and parking are on the left side of the road.
