Abstract:

Abstract:   Paints and coatings play a key role in of our everyday lives and are applied to almost everything that we interact with, own and use.  Coatings range from the wide palette of decorative color choices in house and car paint to protective coatings used in transportation, buildings, infrastructure, and electronics.  This talk will generally review the types of coatings consumers typically find and use in their home.  Because food and cooking is a large part of everyday home life, coatings that are used in cookware and bakeware will be discussed in more detail as well as their benefits and shortcomings.  Newer developments and trends for consumer coatings and the coatings market in general will be highlighted.
